“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Pet. 2:9).
“Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession” (Heb. 4:14).
The Power of Being a Priest to the Lord
Each Christian is, in fact, a priest to the Lord. Peter calls us this, stating, “You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation” (1 Pet. 2:9). John says the same thing, but also points out that a priest’s ministry is to God, who “made us kings and priests to His God and Father” (Rev. 1:6; see also Rev. 5:10). I believe most of us are aware that we’re priests to the Lord, but probably most of us don’t understand what this means. Nor do we know the tremendous power that God is able to work through us as His priests. We do know that Jesus, by His death and resurrection, has become our high priest (see Heb. 4:14), and that one of His ministries is continual intercession on our behalf. Hebrews 7:25 states, “Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.”
Last week, I happened to be reading in Exodus 28 about the priestly garments they were to make for Aaron, whom God designated as High Priest, and I was struck by a recurring theme. Verse 29 states, “So Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel on the breastplate of judgment over his heart, when he goes into the holy place, as a memorial before the Lord continually.” What a powerful picture. Whenever Aaron went before the Lord—into His presence—he was carrying all the tribes of Israel.
This same idea is presented three times in this chapter. Verses 9–11 mention the two stones on the ephod’s shoulders inscribed with the names of the twelve tribes. In 21–29, we see there’s an inscribed stone for each tribe on the breastplate. And 36–38 describe the gold plate on which was written “Holiness to the Lord,” and then state, “It shall always be on his forehead, that they may be accepted before the Lord.” This is even more powerful. “Holiness to the Lord” means “set apart for the Lord.” Somehow, Aaron’s wearing of that gold plate helped the people to be accepted.
This seems similar to what Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 7:14, “For the unbelieving husband is made holy because of his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy because of her husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.” If the wife is a Christian, the unbelieving husband and children are made holy, or “set apart.” While each person still has to make a decision to receive Jesus or not, it’s clear there is grace or favor on them. They are regarded as “holy”—set apart for the Lord.
What does this all mean for us?
1. Know that you are a priest to the Lord, and that your intercession is powerful.
2. Know that according to scripture, there already is a special grace on you that affects your family.
3. Know that God wants to put things on your “heart” and “shoulders” for you to carry continually so He can remember them continually.
4. Ask Him to—and then acknowledge—the things He puts on your heart. These could include your extended family, your region, or your nation. Also note that whether you recognized it or not, your spouse and children are already positively set apart because of you.
5. Know and believe that you are carrying those things, and especially every time you come into God’s presence, God will remember and will bless. Whether you verbalize the prayers or not, you are carrying those things into the presence of the Lord.
I want to continue to remind you of my book about prophetic praise, Judah Goes First, because it also more fully explains the prophetic song of the Lord, as shared about in Minako’s testimony above. It’s available online in English. Hard copies are also available in Chinese, Korean, Russian, and English.
My most recent book, How to Activate to Prophecy and Revelation Gifts, also has significant updates on prophetic praise, as well as the song of the Lord.
Prayer Corner-Things for all of us to pray for
March 13–15 is the feast of Purim, a time of breakthrough and reversal for victory. Pray for Apostolic for Russia on March 14, and Apostolic for Chinese on March 15.
Keep pressing into singing prophetically to the Lord each day. As you enter into His presence, you are automatically carrying into His presence the things He puts on your heart.
Thanks for your praying,
Ron and Teddy
Speaking Truth in Your Heart
Adar 5785—The Twelfth Hebrew Month
Speaking Truth in Your Heart
This month is about celebrating the goodness of God. It is also about speaking, thinking, and meditating on His truth instead of being ruled by fear and worry. The highlight of this month is the feast of Purim on Adar 14 (evening of March 13–evening of March 14, 2025). The order had been given for the Jewish people to be destroyed all through the Persian empire. There seemed to be no hope, but God had a plan and executed it at exactly the right time through Queen Esther and her older cousin Mordecai. The result was overwhelming victory and great increase and prosperity for the Jewish people. From then on, joyful celebration of Purim was a must.
This is an important lesson for us. It can be so easy to worry because of seemingly increasing problems in the world. For example, we see the rise of “wokeism,” that in some ways sounds so good, but with a little digging one can see the spirit behind it is a way of thinking that seems to hate the things God loves and love the things He hates. But we are not to worry. We are to keep our eyes on Him.
One great help will be to develop the habit of daily singing prophetically to the Lord. As we worship Him this way, “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24), we will find ourselves strengthened in spirit, as well as being drawn ever closer to Him and His truth. It’s His truth that will continually keep setting us free.
