2024/6/12 Pentecost—Three Things God Wants Us to Have!

“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49).

“For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure” (John 3:34, emphasis added).

Pentecost—Three Things God Wants Us to Have!

Last night (June 11), according the Hebrew calendar, was the start of the two-day feast of Pentecost. It started at sundown on June 11, and finishes at sundown on June 13 (Sivan 5–7). What I love about the Hebrew feasts is that they help us understand that God wants us to receive and experience more and more each year. For example, we all know that Pentecost is about the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Yet God doesn’t want us to look at this amazing experience simply as something that happened to us in our past. He wants us to experience more and more of the Holy Spirit. I like what one of our team members remarked, “The Holy Spirit on Jesus was unlimited,” or as scripture says, “For God does not give the Spirit by measure” (John 3:34, emphasis added).

But actually, there are three things God wants us to receive more of every Pentecost:

1. More revelation from the Lord—We should well know that if we aren’t receiving living revelation from the Lord, we will soon lose our focus and begin to wander off track. Proverbs 29:18 states, “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (KJV). In fact, the very first Pentecost was when God gave them the law on Mount Sinai and entered into covenant with them (see Exod. 19–24). We need to see ourselves as His people, covenanted to Him—or we could say “married” to Him. The more revelation we have, the more we will be able to daily walk with Him.

2. More provision—The explanation of the feast of Pentecost is as a feast to enjoy the firstfruits of your work. Exodus 23:16 states, “And the Feast of Harvest, the firstfruits of your labors which you have sown in the field.” This means it’s just the first-fruits, or early harvest. The main one is yet to come. God is the source of everything for us, including our finances. He has blessed until now, but has much more He wants to give. Ask Him for and expect increase of whatever provision you need.

3. More anointing and power—Most reading this are already baptized in the Holy Spirit. And make no mistake about it, when the Holy Spirit came to you, He came in His entirety. Nothing was held back. Each one of us was “clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49, ESV) when we received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. But on the other hand, most of us also know and feel that in practice in our daily lives we need to have more and more manifestation of the Holy Spirit. We need and desire more of His anointing, working, and power.

How to Receive? It’s true that any of the above things can and should be asked for and believed for at any time. There’s no need to wait for a special day or time to ask for more revelation, more provision, or more of His power. They can be activated any time (see Col. 2:16). But simultaneously, we must also remember these are feasts of the Lord (see Lev. 23, Num. 10:10), the concept of which goes on and on. Thus, we can think that during these feasts a portal—or window—of heaven is opened for God to pour forth His blessing. Yes, Jesus completed these feasts, but we can think of them as a time God sets aside for us to experience more of—to enter more deeply into—the great salvation of Jesus.

So make it a point to spend some extra time with the Lord. Wait on Him. And have the expectation of receiving more revelation, more provision, and more anointing and power of the Holy Spirit. Be sure to expect and then receive in your spirit.

Thanks for praying.

Praying for One Nation Every Day (from now until Passover next year)

Recently, I shared about an amazing prayer strategy from Apostle Karen Dey (New Zealand/Sri Lanka). I wrote:

“She saw hosts of angels—some were worshiping and some blowing trumpets; others were warring angels. Then she was impressed by the Lord to ask people to get a world map and to pray each day for a different nation. From this year’s Passover until next year’s Passover—365 days of praying for the nations!”

I urge everyone to do this. Your prayers will turn desolate places into “camps of God.” Please refer to the update from May 8.

My son Pete wrote a song, “Psalm 91,” for Pentecost. It’s only available in Japanese. The video may be seen here.

Apostles and Apostolic Anointing is a book I wrote a few years ago. God wants apostles to arise and take their proper places so all believers can understand, receive, and move in this anointing. It’s available in English, Japanese, and Mandarin.

A Kindle version in English is available on Amazon.
