“They will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:18).
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Rom. 8:31).
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death” (Rev. 12:11).
Pulling Out Serpents!
A few weeks ago, I was Zoom teaching a group of Virtual Apostolic Ministry students, and was sitting out on my deck. The Holy Spirit had led me to speak about getting rid of demons. I found myself using the expression, “Pull out the serpents and get rid of them,” which came from a sermon I’d heard a few years earlier. The speaker kept emphasizing that as believers we have both the authority or right, as well as the power, to pull out the serpents (get rid of the demons). This comes from the wording of Mark 16:18, which states, “They will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them.”
I think my choice of words startled some of the newer listeners. After all, one doesn’t usually expect to hear a teaching on “pulling out serpents.” But as I was speaking, I happened to glance up. At that moment, a hawk flew by—grasping a snake in its talons!
This was an amazing confirmation from the Lord! Yes, I was speaking on the right topic and using the correct terminology. Yes, we are called to pull out serpents (drive out demons) that want to torment and hinder us and others. Yes, we are anointed. Eagles and hawks have the ability to easily spot, swoop down, and remove snakes. We can do that with demons!
But there is one more truth here. Often Christians are faced with a kind of fear. I have had many ask me about “backlash.” They ask, “If God uses me to heal the sick and to drive out demons, then won’t I become a target of Satan? Won’t I get sick or be harassed by demons?”
Here is where truth is so important. We must understand that in Christ we are completely protected. The truth is that we are in Christ and are actually seated with Him in heavenly places.
We can clarify it like this:
1. Jesus is sitting at the right hand of His Father. God “seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion” (Eph. 1:21).
2. We as believers are in Christ and are seated where He is. God “raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Eph. 2:6).
3. Therefore, we also are far above all principalities and powers and demonic forces.
As long as we see ourselves as who we really are, it’s easy. We are in Christ. We are anointed as eagles. The hawk soaring above my deck with the snake in its talons was doing what it was born to do.
So regarding becoming a target of demons and the devil when I am used for healing and deliverance? Have no fear. This is what we are called to do!
Thanks for praying,
Ron and Teddy
Shining by Immediately Testifying Whenever the Lord Blesses You!
Tammuz—The Fourth Hebrew Month of 5783
June 20–July 18, 2023
The Lord immediately tested Saul. When He blessed Saul by telling him he would be king, and then confirmed it by many signs—the last one being Saul prophesied just as the other prophets—the Lord expected Saul to share these things. If Saul had clearly stated such to his father and uncle, his faith would have been strengthened; his confidence in the Lord and in his calling as king would have soared. However, Saul let his shyness or natural reticence take over. He kept silent. This led to doubt and loss of confidence in himself and in the Lord. Let us not do that.
As soon as you experience a blessing, be sure to testify of it! You will shine!
Blessings for the month of Tammuz may be found here.
