Counting the Omer: Day 48
www.rwsministries.com
“For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus … for he was hurrying to be at Jerusalem, if possible, on the Day of Pentecost” (Acts 20:16, NKJV).
“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine” (Prov. 3:9–10, ESV).
Counting to Pentecost—Today is the 48th day after Passover—just two more days until Pentecost (Shavuot). Keep counting down. Keep trusting the Holy Spirit to show you old snares. Know that the Lord is taking you daily to a higher level in Him.
Let’s not overlook that we aren’t to come before the Lord “empty-handed” (Deut. 16:16). Our giving at Pentecost is key. Seek the Lord as to how and what you should give. He wants to pour much blessing upon us, and our giving helps unlock it.
One-Day Healing Activation Seminar and Service
CTF Sano, Saturday, June 17
We will teach and activate healing. This means from the very first session we will be ministering healing. Thus, I invite you to bring with you those who need healing.
I will also be speaking at the weekly CTF Sano Saturday service (5:30 p.m.), which will be a “healing meeting.” I ask you all to pray that many (including non-Christians) will come for healing and be healed.
Get Your Offering Ready for Pentecost!
We need to be sure to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and get our financial offerings ready for the Lord at Pentecost. We all know we aren’t to come before the Lord empty-handed at any of the feasts (Deut. 16:16), but there is something special about our giving at Pentecost. This year, I made it a point to meditate on giving during Pentecost, and felt the Lord gave me some better understanding from scripture.
First a disclaimer—our giving should never ever be misconstrued as doing something to earn or manipulate God for a blessing. God can’t be manipulated. Period. It’s more about “honoring” Him. And when we honor Him, He honors us. Proverbs 3:9–10 states, “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.”
But here are two things to be considered regarding our Pentecost offering:
First, our giving causes a door to be open to us. Recently, I read the description of the temple Ezekiel saw in a vision. It had several doors for the people, but only one, the eastern door, would be opened for the Lord. Only the Lord could enter via the eastern door. However, when the prince (of Israel) would bring a free will offering, that same door would be opened to him. Ezekiel 46:12 states, “When the prince makes a freewill offering, whether a burnt offering or a fellowship offering as a freewill offering to the Lord, the gate that faces east is to be opened for him.” What an amazing statement! When we choose to give freely to the Lord, a door of access is opened. Therefore, when you give this Pentecost, keep in mind that the reason the Holy Spirit has led you to give that amount is because He wants a special door to be opened to you.
Second, God’s presence comes to you. In 1 Samuel 4, we see the Philistines had stolen the ark of the covenant. But in 1 Samuel 5, God began to punish them. The idol of Dagon, their god, toppled and was broken when the ark of the covenant was placed next to it. Furthermore, people in the city began to get tumors and sicknesses. We read, “But the hand of the Lord was heavy on the people of Ashdod, and He ravaged them and struck them with tumors, both Ashdod and its territory” (1 Sam. 5:6). When they sent the ark to Gath, they too were struck with tumors. The ark went to each of the five cities of the five Philistine lords, and each place had an outbreak of tumors. The Philistines realized they couldn’t keep the ark of the covenant and that they needed to send it back to Israel.
However, their own diviners told them they mustn’t send the ark back “empty-handed,” but with an offering. In fact, there was to be a gold offering for each of the five cities and the five lords. We read, “When they said, ‘What is the trespass offering which we shall return to Him?’ They answered, ‘Five golden tumors and five golden rats, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines. For the same plague was on all of you and on your lords’” (1 Sam. 6:4).
In other words, these non-believers wanted to get rid of the presence of the Lord (the ark of the covenant), and to do so they clearly recognized they needed to give an offering. We, of course, want the presence of the Lord. We want His blessing. If the Philistines knew to give an offering to “get rid” of the Lord, how much more shall we who long for His presence be willing to give our offerings to Him.
So I encourage each one to ask and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and bring your offering to the Lord. Give what He shows you, and give where He shows you. Expect three things: a door of access to be open, His presence, and His hand to be heavy (with blessing) upon you.
Thanks for Praying…
The Lord has been giving amazing meetings in Taiwan. Right now, my assistant Eddy Thayer and I are in Mindanao, Philippines, to minister at a conference with Donald and Barbara Arney, who want to link with Catch the Fire.
Also, keep praying for June 17 Healing Activation Seminar.
Thanks for praying
