God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38).

How to Grow in Anointing!

We have entered the eighth Hebrew month, Cheshvan. It’s a month reserved for the anointing. God wants us to receive and grow in it. Jesus is the anointed one (Christ means “the anointed one”). Acts 10:38 states, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” In that very same way, God wants to anoint all of us so we too can heal and help those oppressed by the devil.

Another reason for growing in anointing is so Satan doesn’t get the upper hand in our lives. We have just come through the Feast of Tabernacles, which is a kind of activation of the truth that the Lord wants to dwell with us and live our lives with us. Living in His presence results in rivers flowing out of our innermost being (John 7:37–39). Satan, therefore, sets himself to knock us off balance and hinder in any way he can. Thus, we need to grow in this anointing, because “the anointing breaks the yoke” (Isa. 10:27) that Satan wants to encumber us with.

Since we know the anointing grows the more we spend time in His presence, here are four ways we can do so:

  1. Live your life with Him—Talk with Him throughout the day (which is the main point of the Feast of Tabernacles—God wants to live with us.) We need to be sure to keep including Him in our lives.

  2. Serve Him—When he became king, Hezekiah reinstituted celebrating Passover and invited not only the people of Judah, but also the Jews who were still living in the north after Israel had been destroyed by Assyria. He was inviting them to start serving the Lord again because it would result in restoration and blessing. We read, “For if you return to the Lord, your brethren and your children will be treated with compassion by those who lead them captive, so that they may come back to this land; for the Lord your God isgracious and merciful, and will not turn His face from you if you return to Him” (2 Chron. 30:9). Similarly, King Rehoboam stopped serving God and lost most of his possessions to King Shishak of Egypt. We read, “But you will serve him (Shishak) since you no longer serve Me, and you will remember the pain of serving foreign kings and long for the ease of serving Me (2 Chron. 12:7–9). So let’s remember that we are serving the Lord and great blessing does come with it.

  3. Don’t forget scheduled times—It is important to set aside both regular and special times to meet with the Lord. It was on their way to a scheduled prayer time that Peter and John suddenly found themselves ministering the miracle of healing to a man born lame (Acts 3).

  4. Watch with the Lord—Years ago, I asked the Lord what could I do so more of His power would be released when I ministered/spoke. He led me to “watch” with Him. In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus said, “What? Could you not watch with me?” (Matt. 26:40). I still remember that Saturday night years ago. Starting around 10 p.m. through about 3 a.m., I went to my study and just sat in the presence of the Lord. I had no agenda. I would pray a bit, read the Bible a bit, sing a bit, and meditate a bit. I was conscious that I was “watching” with the Lord. Finally I got sleepy and knew it was time to quit. But I was amazed at how Sunday messages changed and became fruitful. I knew it was an increase of anointing that happened simply because I had spent time with the Lord.

So, spend time with the Lord. Surely His anointing in your life will increase.

Thanks for praying,

Ron and Teddy

Praising to Release the Waters of Salvation

Join Pete for “30 Minutes of Worship, 10:00–10:30 p.m., Sundays–Thursdays

I feel one of the main reasons the Lord wants us to be praising Him is that it releases the water of salvation. Just as Moses and the elders sang and water sprang up (Num. 21:17), when we praise the Lord, we will see His works and miracles spring up.

You can continue to connect with Pete Sawka for thirty minutes of praise five times a week, Sundays–Thursdays, 10:00–10:30 p.m.

Anointing for Harvest

Cheshvan (Oct. 7–Nov. 4, 2021)

Hebrew Year 5782 (Eighth Month on the Ecclesiastical Calendar/Second Month on the Civic Calendar)

A main theme of this eighth month is to gain the anointing God wants us to have. Anointing breaks the yoke and keeps Satan from being able to work his schemes and gain the upper hand. Anointing is also necessary to gather in the harvest. Lately it’s as if the Lord has been trumpeting for all of His people: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor” (Luke 4:18).
