“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne” (Rev. 3:20–21).

Becoming Conquerors

It’s good to be back in Japan after an eventful trip to Europe and the Middle East. It was especially gratifying to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles in the same general area where the elders of Israel sang and caused the waters to spring forth in the desert. We read, “Then Israel sang this song:

‘Spring up, O well!—Sing to it!’” (Num. 21:17). The Feast of Tabernacles is about celebrating and activating the following truths—that not only is God the creator and Lord of all, who also provided redemption through Jesus, but that He also wants us to live our lives daily in His presence. The more we learn to live in His presence, the more we find the water of the Holy Spirit being poured upon us and being released from us to others.

Living in the presence of the Lord as we go about our daily lives (or sharing our lives with Him) is perhaps the great theme of the Bible. I have come to see that Revelation 3:14–22 is actually an amazing picture illustrating what the Lord has for us as we learn to practice living daily in His presence. If the Laodicean church had only walked in the truth of what God wants us all to learn from the Feast of Tabernacles, they wouldn’t have had to be warned.

Here are a few of the blessings that occur in us as we choose daily to live conscious of Him:

  1. It will keep us from being lukewarm.

  2. It will help avert self-deception (they didn’t realize their true condition).

  3. It will enable us to have true faith (gold refined by fire).

  4. It will break the power of shame and condemnation (be clothed in white garments).

  5. It will open our eyes spiritually (salve to anoint our eyes).

  6. It will lead to us becoming the conquerors God intends us to be (“To the one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne” [3:21]).

Keep Praising During Tishrei

Join Pete for “30 Minutes of Worship—10 P.M. Praise”

Continue to let your voice be heard in praise. Not only does the Lord want to rain down His Holy Spirit upon us, but He also wants the water of the Holy Spirit to spring up in us. Numbers 21:17 states, “Then Israel sang this song: ‘Spring up, O well!—Sing to it!’” and this happens when we praise, just as the Israelites did.

All of this connects to the month of Tishrei—God wants to give us a new beginning and new harvest. So sing to him. You can continue to connect with Pete Sawka for thirty minutes of praise daily (Mon.–Fri., 10 p.m.).
